Angela Carter-Lanon, Owner

Angela Carter-Lanon is an exercise physiologist, nationally board certified health and wellness coach, personal trainer and health educator. She is also a collegiate educator, specializing in health, fitness, nutrition, peer mentoring, leadership and coaching.

Experience

Since 1992, Angela has worked one-on-one, with groups and in classroom settings with clients to improve their overall health, make lasting change and reach lifelong goals. In addition, as an exercise physiologist, she has extensive experience partnering, coaching and training with clients who are navigating their way with preexisting conditions (such as hypertension, diabetes, post-rehabilitation etc.) and multiple challenges. She takes great pride in “shining a light” and helping clients see opportunities, where obstacles previously resided.

Education

Angela has a Master’s of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, both from the University of Louisville.

Certifications

Angela is a Wellcoaches Certified Professional Health and Wellness Coach and is one of the first health and wellness coaches in the country to become nationally board certified by The International Consortium for Health & Wellness Coaching. She is an Authorized Provider for the American Red Cross. She has held a National Strength and Conditioning Association, Personal Trainer Certification, as well as multiple YMCA of the USA Trainer Level credentials.

James Jackson

James Jackson is a lifelong fitness enthusiast and a highly energetic dance instructor. He holds national fitness certifications in R.I.P.P.E.D., R.I.P.P.E.D. Rumble and Silver Sneakers. James specializes in high intensity training programs for individuals, partners and group exercise and has been instrumental in helping his clients, of all ages reach multiple goals such as weight loss, muscle building, injury prevention and cardiorespiratory conditioning. He teaches group exercise in several places around town, but personal trains exclusively at People Power Personal Training.

James is also a trained dancer and he’s performed on a local level with Mi Salsa Es Su Salsa Dance Company, Xplosive Rhythms Dance and Fitness and Imani Dance Company. James teaches multilevel dance classes for all ages and offers private lessons. Though experienced in African Dance, Rueda de Casino, Bachata, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, and other forms of dance, his specialty and area of expertise is Salsa. James has a flair for helping beginners build confidence in the gym and on the dance floor. He prides himself on helping students learn skills that are “dance floor ready”, in as little as one session.
